Dr. J. Gregory Cairncross is an Attending Neurologist at Foothills Medical Centre, a Consulting Neurologist at Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and Department Head of Clinical Neurosciences, Alberta Health Services, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is board certified in Medicine and Neurology, has chaired departments of Neurology and Oncology, and was executive director of a cancer care center in London, Ontario, Canada. He currently serves in leadership positions for several internal committees, and has served on, or chaired, dozens of external committees.
Dr. Cairncross earned his medical degree from University of Western Ontario, and completed postgraduate training at Toronto General Hospital, New York Hospital, the Sloan Kettering Institute, Memorial Hospital for Cancer & Allied Diseases, and the University of Western Ontario. He was twice named one of the “Best Doctors in America” by the American Neurological Association. He has been awarded over 40 public and private grants consistently since 1983, has published over 150 papers and has 15,000 citations. He has made editorial contributions to two books, written or reviewed hundreds of chapters and articles, and written dozens of editorials and letters to the editor. He sits on several grant review panels and participates in ad hoc grant and manuscript reviews. He has supervised numerous fellows and postgraduate students, is a highly sought-after lecturer, and holds two patents.
