Healthcare technology company helps to increase the usability of electronic medical records

Washington, D.C., December 14, 2016—Medicomp Systems (Medicomp) announced today that Marathon Health has selected the company’s Quippe to optimize its electronic medical record (EMR) and provide better information for clinicians at the point-of-care. Quippe will allow Marathon Health to continue to deliver the highest quality patient care, while also improving clinical documentation and increasing clinician productivity.

Quippe leverages Medicomp’s powerful MEDCIN© Knowledge Engine to enhance the usability of EMR’s by providing structured data at the point-of-care, to help providers meet compliance and reporting requirements. The cloud-based solution’s intuitive interface, which seamlessly integrates into existing clinical workflows, mirrors the way physicians think and work to help clinicians to make sense of all available clinical data. Quippe also enables quicker, more accurate clinical documentation.

Marathon Health’s implementation of Quippe was a core component of a recent upgrade to their existing EMR, which included the migration of 10 years’ worth of clinical data. One of the nation’s leading providers of worksite health centers, Marathon Health chose Quippe because of its ability to transform unstructured data into meaningful information, as well as its easy-to-use templates and workflow tools that allowed them to customize the EMR for clinicians. The solution’s streamlined approach to documenting clinical encounters was also a key differentiator.

“At Medicomp, our purpose is to improve healthcare by presenting relevant information at the point-of-care for physicians, in a useable way. We know that so many providers, like Marathon Health, have wanted to increase the usability of their EMRs, and that they deserve the best for both clinicians and patients. That’s why we developed Quippe—because we believe that healthcare can be better with the support of better data and technology,” stated David Lareau, CEO at Medicomp.

“We believe that providers should take a patient-centered approach to care delivery, and that technology should help clinicians to deliver that top quality care, not be a frustration or a roadblock. We chose Quippe because we wanted a user-friendly, customizable solution that provided clinicians with much-needed data at the point-of-care, without slowing them down, and while simplifying our clinical documentation process,” said Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford.

Marathon Health, which helps employers to improve the health of workforce populations and reduce the cost of care, serves more than 250,000 individuals at over 148 employer locations nationwide.

About Medicomp Systems

Since 1978, when Medicomp’s founder Peter Goltra set out to improve physicians’ access to relevant patient information and enable sharing of that information throughout the medical system, Medicomp has remained focused on the simple principle that information technology can be used to save lives and give caregivers what they need to care for the patient. The solution to this challenge was the development of a powerful knowledge engine, which is now in use in leading EHRs around the world. Collaboration and work with physicians on staff at Cornell, Harvard and Johns Hopkins, along with other major medical centers, including the Department of Defense Military Health System, enables the Medicomp team to continuously expand the knowledge engine and to innovate new technologies that improve EHR systems and make them easy for clinicians to use.
